This is a clear attempt to smear Julian Assange. This video is 11+ minutes in run time and from the very first few seconds and minutes, the anchor tries to say things from a perspective that make it sound like something completely horrible has happened.
Greenwald is the only one in this interview that has any sense. He speaks from a level platform and his argument seems unbiased, unlike CNN and the contributor.
It’s fairly obvious that Assange has not been charged with a crime, in anything. He’s wanted for questioning in relation to a sex crime; but it’s not conclusive. The police reports that were released clearly show that the women involved were scorned and felt like they were deserving of something more— and when they didn’t get it, they lied.
Regardless of your position on Assange, he hasn’t done anything wrong. He has embarrassed the United States government extremely because they thought their shit didn’t stink; well, it does and now it’s out there.
This information could’ve come from any other source, but because it has come from this small little place, this small little person, the United States government [I am sure] is pressuring other governments to do something about Assange. Any other large newspaper in the United States would loved to have exposed the United States government in this way— it’d have made them millions in circulation, and they’d have been attacked, but they’d have MONEY and CLOUT to defend themselves.
The constitution isn’t perfect, but it was composed on the basis that they didn’t want corruption and people freedoms to be stripped away…
Like what’s going on with the TSA security screenings.
People really need to stop and think about what’s actually happening; and are they willing to give up another liberty?
…and that beats all.
